Like I mentioned this blog will be for the purpose of my class. I will share things I learnt from class, things others said in class and things everyone else say about social media, technology etc. From time to time I will share my own journey with these things. For first time sake, I will share this journey with you....
Today in class we watched a really long video about the very first telephone.
The telephone in the video kinda looked like this.
The first telephone we had at home that I can remember looked a lot like this
I remember one year for my birthday my parents bought me this =)
I was the first one among my friends to get a personal telephone in my room and then later on on my 13th birthday I received an Alcatel mobile like this.
This also made me one of the few people in my high school to have a cell phone. I can still remember that day when I opened my present and screamed at the top of my lungs thinking, I have MY world in the palms of my hand. Since my Alcatel I have had the following in the best order I can remember
The names on the pictures represent the person who bought me the phone. I have never actually bought a phone for myself. It has always been given to me as a gift. I must admit that once my ex boyfriend bought me an I-phone 3 I made an oath I would never go back to using anything else. After returning from my mission, one of my welcome home presents was an I-phone 5 which is what I am currently using.
I cannot remember a world without telephones. What would we do without it? I can't even remember what I kept myself occupied with before I received my first phone. Oh well, suffice it to say, telephones/cell phones have been a part of my life since I was 11 years old and I assume it will always be a part of my life. I must admit, I was addicted to phones way before facebook and snapchat and email and the internet altogether. I cannot possibly imagine life let alone a day without it. The world is indeed in the palm of my hand. Stay tuned!
I LOVED your introduction. LOL. I really like the format of your post with the pictures and the story that is connected to your life experience and what we talked about in class. I remember life before the Web, but I still have a hard time imagining life without the web. Same for most of the tools I use on the web. Crazy how "essential" new things become when we were perfectly fine without them for years before. That is just the nature of our changing world. I'm staying tuned.
